Twitter Layoffs : Founder Jack Dorsey apologizes amid expulsion of old employees from Twitter

Elon Musk is seen in action mode after taking over the reins of Twitter. He has fired more than half of the company's employees in the last few days. Most of the fired employees are either Indian or of Indian origin. Twitter founder Jack Dorsey publicly apologized on Saturday amid Elon Musk's action. In a tweet on Saturday, he said: "The people who have worked on Twitter, both before and now, are extremely talented. They will always find a way, no matter how hard times are. I realize that many people are angry with me. I agree that everyone is in this situation because of me. I have made the company size too quickly. I apologise for that.

Twitter fired half of its 7,500 employees on Friday. New owner Elon Musk introduced major changes to the company just a week after the acquisition. An internal document seen by AFP said "nearly 50 percent" of employees have been affected and have been denied access to the company's computers and email on an immediate basis. When professionals around the world were kicked out by their companies, it was Twitter that helped vent their frustration. Now only the employees of Twitter have to go out.

Michelle Austin, Twitter's director of public policy for the United States and Canada, said, "I woke up to the news that my time working at Twitter is over. I'm heartbroken. I can't accept it. I've been." Elon Musk tweeted in his first comment on the subject on Friday evening, "Twitter unfortunately has no choice but to cut staff. The company is suffering losses of over $4 million per day."

Ahead of the layoffs, Twitter has asked employees to stay at home and work in the office only after receiving emails. "It's a very inhuman way of treating people. They are trying to save money at all costs," said a dismissed employee on condition of anonymity. Elon Musk has taken billions of dollars in debt and sold $15.5 billion worth of shares in his electric car company Tesla to pay off the $44 billion deal. Company sources said Musk's teams were putting pressure on the remaining employees. Tesla developers have been brought in to oversee the work of "Tweeps". Those working in Twitter are called Tweeps inside the company.
