There may be an outcry for water in Delhi, the water level of Yamuna again reduced
According to the Jal Board, the water level of Yamuna river in Wazirabad started decreasing about three weeks ago, but the problem has increased more than a week ago.
The water level of Yamuna river continues to recede in Wazirabad. On Wednesday, the water level of Yamuna river in Wazirabad also decreased from Tuesday.
The water level of Yamuna in Wazirabad has decreased by more than five and a half feet in a week. Due to this, the shortage of drinking water is increasing due to less water supply from Jal Board's Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla water treatment plants.
If the problem is not resolved soon, then there may be a big drinking water crisis in the capital.
The normal water level of Yamuna river near Wazirabad barrage should be 674.50 feet. On May 12, the water level had dropped to 671.80 feet. Since then the water level has been continuously going down. The water level was 669 feet on May 17, which fell to 668.9 feet on Wednesday.
According to the Jal Board, Delhi requires 1,260 MGD (Million Gallon Daily). The Jal Board normally supplies 950 MGD of water, but this time the water supply was increased through tube wells. Because of this, Jal Board was supplying about 990 MGD of water in the past.
