Teacher's Day is celebrated every year in India on 5th September. On this day the country's first Vice President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is remembered. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President of India, was born on this day on September 5, 1888 in Tirumani village of Chennai, capital of Tamil Nadu. When Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan became the President of the country, many students came to meet him. During this he sought permission to celebrate Teacher's Day on the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. At that time Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan could not refuse and he gave permission. Since that time Teacher's Day is celebrated on 5th September.
