12 Rajya Sabha MPs were suspended for the winter session on November 29. The suspension resolution was passed under Rule 256 for violent behavior during the monsoon session, which includes six members from Congress, two each from Shiv Sena and TMC and one each from CPI, CPM. However, opposition parties are staging a sit-in on the Gandhi effigy outside Parliament, terming this suspension as 'democratic'.
First of all, I would like to clarify that the suspension has been done not for discussing the farmer's law, but for opposing the bill of privatization of insurance companies. The opposition was opposing the bill brought suddenly. But the central government got the bill passed arbitrarily. The biggest objection is that this session has been suspended due to the uproar of the last monsoon season. Such suspension is against the rules of Parliament. That is why these suspensions have happened in a non-constitutional manner. The opposition remains on this point.
