Suryakumar Yadav has become the highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals in a calendar year by the Indian batsman. He broke a 4-year-old record in the first T20 International against South Africa on Wednesday. Suriya has broken Shikhar Dhawan's record for most runs in T20 Internationals in a calendar year. He broke Dhawan's record with consecutive sixes in the seventh over of the first T20I of the series against South Africa. Suryakumar is already the top run scorer of the calendar year by playing 21 matches of 2022. In this match too, he ruthlessly beat every South African bowler without any discrimination. After the early dismissals of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, he came to the crease and as soon as he came, he expressed his intentions by hitting back to back sixes. In the midst of these sixes, he also made a new record. When Suriya came to the crease at the Greenfield International Stadium, he needed just eight runs to break Shikhar's record in 2018, which he easily crossed.
In the last match, Surya had surpassed Virat Kohli's tally of 641 runs in 2016. To break all these records, the Mumbai batsman also scored five half-centuries with a century this year.
