State Bank of India had filed an application against Vijay Mallya for non-payment of dues despite the court order. The matter was heard by Justice UU Lalit, three-judge Benh. Along with Justice Lalit, the bench comprises Justice S Ravindra Bhatt and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia.
The court had on March 10 reserved its verdict on Mallya's sentence. The Supreme Court had started the hearing 5 years ago on 9 May 2017 by holding Vijay Mallya guilty of contempt of court order. Actually, Vijay Mallya did not give full details of his assets to the banks and concerned authorities from whom he had taken loans of crores and billions of rupees.
The court had ordered Mallya to appear before the court on July 10, 2017. After which neither he appeared nor any lawyer on his behalf appeared before the bench. After which the court had said that Mallya lives like a free man in Britain, but no one has any information about what he is doing there.
