Supreme Court judge told the matter of giving gifts of 1000 crores to doctors serious, sought response from the Center

During the hearing in the Supreme Court today in connection with the matter of giving freebies to doctors, the Federation of Medical and Sales Representative Association of India claimed that the pharma company has given free gifts of Rs 1000 crore to doctors for fever medicine Dolo 650mg. have been given. Senior advocate Sanjay Parikh, appearing for the association, said this in the Supreme Court today. The Central Board for Direct Taxes has also accused Dolo 650 mg of giving free gifts of 1000 crores.
The market price of DOLO up to 500 mg is regulated but dosages above 500mg can be priced at the will of the manufacturer. To ensure maximum benefits, free gifts were distributed among the doctors for prescribing the dosage of 650mg. Advocate Sanjay Parikh called it an "irrational dosage combination".

On March 11, 2022, he had agreed to test the case of giving freebies to doctors. The Supreme Court had issued a notice to the Central Government in the matter and sought its response. In the petition, there has been a demand to make pharmaceutical companies accountable for giving freebies to doctors. A bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Surya Kant issued this notice and sought a response from the central government. In fact, the petition states that pharmaceutical companies should be made accountable for giving and receiving freebies along with doctors for corruption. The petitioner has said that at present only doctors are responsible while the pharmaceutical companies who give bribe should also be held equally responsible.
