Stampede at Vaishno Devi, 12 causalities and more than 16 injuries on the spot
An enormous crowd at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine became a stampede spot which took 12 lives and left 16 injured. Reportedly 11 people have been successfully discharged from hospitals after steady recovery. However, the condition of four persons is still critical and are on ventilator support.

The entire incident happened due to the sudden influx of a huge crowd and the shrine board is being questioned on the happening of this massive misfortunate event.
The Prime Minister Narendra Singh Modi’s office tweeted, “An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to the stampede at Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan. The injured would be given Rs 50,000," He also added, “I express my deep condolences to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in the stampede at Vaishno Devi Bhawan complex.” The PM assured that his central government is in consistent touch with the J&K administration to ensure every assistance is provided and the relief process is taken care of seamlessly.
Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has said that a high-level inquiry has been ordered into the deadly stampede which took 12 lives. According to the sources, the stampede occurred around 2.30 am near gate number three outside the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine located atop the Trikuta hills, about 50 km from Jammu.
