Sourav Ganguly wants Virat’s captaincy controversy to die down
The President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly doesn’t want to let the controversy regarding Virat Kohli’s captaincy continue.
Refusing to give any air to the ongoing debate on why was Kohli removed from the captaincy of the One-day cricket team, Ganguly told reporters that he doesn’t want to take this further as he has nothing to say in this matter.
When the BCCI president was asked to respond by the press reporters if the BCCI would take any action against Kohli after the India South Africa tour, Ganguly said, “Let's not take this further, I have nothing to say. It is the matter of the BCCI and they will only deal with it."
The controversy cropped up when Kohli was replaced by Rohit Sharma as the captain of the ODI team. While Ganguly said that he had a word with Kohli and he was communicated about the change, the latter contradicted it by holding a press conference.
It added fuel to the fire when in the press conference Kohli said that he was not even aware of his removal and he came to know about it just one and a half and an hour before the selection committee met to decide the team.
Many veteran cricketers have voiced their opinion on this matter and at present, this has become a huge controversy for the Indian cricket team.
A section of experts also believes that the BCCI might take action against Kohli as he had contradicted the President’s stand by holding a press conference.
