Sony introduces a new air conditioner that can be worn under your shirt to keep you cool or wet
The Reon Pocket 2 has been released, but only in Japan for the time being. It now has better sweat-proofing for use when exercising. Also, the Reon Pocket 2 absorbs twice as much heat as the previous iteration
Last year, Sony unveiled the Reon Pocket, the world's first portable air conditioner. The company has now released the Reon Pocket 2, the successor to the one-of-a-kind wearable gadget. The Reon Pocket 2 has the same architecture as its predecessor, but Sony claims that the new model's cooling capabilities have been improved. The Reon Pocket 2 can withstand twice as much heat as the previous model thanks to a new internal design.
Furthermore, Sony claims that the Reon Pocket 2 has enhanced sweat-proofing, making it better suited for workouts. This is a significant improvement over the previous iteration of the product, which was only intended to keep you cool during your regular commutes during the summer.
Sony is now concentrating on expanding the device's applications. Instead of selling the latest Reon Pocket to the general public, the company is focusing on particular applications. As an example, as part of their collaboration with Sony, sportswear brands such as Le Coq Sportif, Munsingwear, and Descente are developing a line of golf clothing.
In order to fit the Reon Pocket 2, golf clothing will have pockets into which the wearer can slip the item.
It's important to note that the Reon Pocket 2 isn't just for keeping you cool in the heat. The unit can also provide heat since it acts as a warmer. The pieces that come into contact with the body surface are made of stainless steel.
A dedicated smartphone app can be used to monitor the system. Sony states that it is both sweats- and drip-proof, reassuring its extended use-cases.
The Reon Pocket 2 costs 14,850 Yen (approximately Rs 10,300) and is currently only available in Japan. Sony promises to highlight compatible accessories with a licence for Reon Pocket compatibility as it expands its compatibility to other devices over time.
