Rising corona cases in Maharashtra and Delhi raised concern
State Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on Thursday that the use of face masks will have to be made mandatory if the cases of corona continue to rise in the same way.
The increasing cases of corona in Delhi and Maharashtra have raised concerns. In the last 24 hours, 373 new cases of corona have been reported in Delhi while 1045 new cases have been reported in Maharashtra. With the latest statement of the state government regarding the increasing cases of corona in Maharashtra, the possibility of a return of restrictions has deepened.
Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar further said that the state government and its administrative machinery is keeping a vigil to ensure that things do not get out of hand. According to the information shared by the state government, 1045 new cases were reported in Maharashtra in a day on Thursday, while one person died of infection.
In Mumbai, 704 new cases of corona infection have been reported in the last 24 hours, while one person has died due to infection. There are 3324 active cases in Mumbai while the number of active cases in Maharashtra is 4559. With this, the total number of corona infections in Maharashtra has increased to 78,89,212 while the death toll has increased to 1,47,861. On Wednesday, 1,081 cases of corona infection were reported in Maharashtra, which was the highest daily increase since February 24.
The Health Ministry said that active cases account for 0.05 percent of the total infections. The recovery rate has been recorded at 98.74 percent. The daily infection rate is 0.84 percent. The weekly infection rate is 0.67 percent. The mortality rate has been recorded at 1.22 percent. Under the nationwide corona vaccination campaign, more than 193.70 crore doses of vaccine have been administered in the country so far.
