The Indian Embassy in Kyiv has advised all the students stuck at various locations in the country’s capital to head towards the railway station as the weekend curfew has been lifted.
The advice is the part of the evacuation plan under which students are asked to move towards border areas so that they can be airlifted from Romania and Hungry.
The advisory issued by the Embassy said, “Weekend curfew lifted in Kyiv. All students are advised to make their way to the railway station for onward journey to the western parts. Ukraine Railways is putting special trains for evacuations.”
The earlier advisory released on February 27, had said, “Based on latest inputs, intense fighting is underway in Kharkiv, Sumy and Kyiv.”
It added, “It is reiterated, Indian National in these cities, and other cities wherever curfew has been applied, are NOT advised to venture towards railway stations until curfew has been lifted and considerable civilian movement is renewed.”
The Indian government has set up a separate and special Twitter handle to advise students from time to time for the next plan of action. Thousands of students are stuck in the middle of the war in Ukraine where they have gone to do their MBBS course.
Now, the government of India has started an evacuation plan which has been named Operation Ganga. More than five flights have been operated under the mission and more flights have been made operational to lift students from Budapest and Bucharest to fly back to India.
