On the other hand, mercury has crossed the 44 mark in 17 cities of Saurashtra, Gujarat, Vidarbha, Maharashtra, Marathwada, West Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and Jharkhand.
The Meteorological Department had predicted the maximum temperature to be between 36 ° to 41 °, but due to intermittent rains, the maximum temperature could not even reach 40 °.So there was relief from the heat.
Parts of the national capital have been in the grip of heat wave since last week with the maximum temperature hovering above 40°C. The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of heat wave in Delhi. The maximum temperature of Safdarjung Observatory may touch 42°C on Saturday. However, there may be some respite from the scorching heat due to cloudy sky from Tuesday.
