Recent comments by Tharoor including praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hinting that he might have to look for other options if Congress no longer valued his input have raised quite a bit of interest. Earlier in the month, Tharoor had also praised the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left government in Kerala for being very business-friendly, something that has had eyebrows raised in Congress.
He also hailed Modi's so-called sabotaging of a trip to Washington in January and meeting with President Donald Trump.
Tharoor's alleged irritability over having been ignored occasioned further private talks between him and Rahul Gandhi, in New Delhi, a week ago.
