India’s number one footwear brand, Relaxo Footwears Limited, is making all efforts to ensure that the high standard and quality of its products are not being compromised in the market.
While many other brands are oblivious of largescale counterfeiting of their products, Relaxo has launched strong surveillance across the country to ensure that consumers get value for their money. Its officials are monitoring the market round the clock and they take even a single instance of counterfeiting very seriously.
In a recent case, the company’s authorised representative, SM Hussain (IPR Protection Agency) came to know that an unscrupulous firm had indulged in manufacturing, marketing, distributing, stocking and selling counterfeit and lookalike products of Relaxo Footwears Limited such as Bahama Spark, Relax and Flight products.
The counterfeiting activities were not was not only causing financial loss to the company but even it was incurring a huge loss to the government by the way of revenues such as Goods and Services Tax.
“Besides this, even the general public, those who were buying these products, were also suffering financial loss as they were paying for a product which was not of that quality and standard. The company’s brand value also suffered due to these illegal activities,” SM Hussai, the owner of the IPR protection agency, said.
Hussain along with the police officers of the Palam village raided a premise where they found counterfeit Relaxo products worth several lakh which the counterfeiters had kept to supply in the footwear market in Delhi.
The counterfeiter was selling these footwear products online as well through other e-marketing websites. “One person has been arrested so far as he was present in the warehouse where the stock was kept. We are investing with the police about its source and have received positive feedback,” Hussain said.
“We will catch the manufacturing unit very soon,” he added.
