24 hours after the security lapse of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's convoy in Punjab, the Congress high command has spoken to Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi has taken detailed information about this matter from Channi. He told Channi that Modi is the Prime Minister of the entire country, so full care should be taken for his security.
Sonia told Channi that action should be taken against those who are responsible in this matter. Full security arrangements should have been made for this tour.
Channi told Sonia Gandhi that the Punjab government was getting the entire matter investigated. For this, an inquiry committee of retired Justice Mehtab Singh Gill and State Home Secretary Anurag Verma has been formed. The committee has been asked to submit its report within 3 days. Whoever is responsible in that, the government will take action against him.
The interesting aspect is that on the one hand, Channi has formed a two-member inquiry committee and on the other hand, he is denying the mistake. He called a press conference earlier and said that there was no mistake in this. It was PM Modi who made the route to go by road at the last moment. Now he is capitalizing on this in election rallies as well. Punjab and Punjabis are being maligned on the pretext of lapse in PM's security.
BJP Punjab President Ashwani Sharma said that the entire conspiracy to lapse in PM Modi's security was hatched in Delhi. This includes the Congress High Command. The Congress government in Punjab implemented it. Sharma also questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's silence in the matter of PM's security lapse.
