Prime Minister Modi meets Iceland's PM, talks on many important issues including trade and energy
PM Modi arrived in Copenhagen from Berlin on Tuesday on the second leg of his three European-nation tour. He met Katrin Jakobsdottir on the sidelines of the 2nd India Nordic Summit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Iceland's Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir on Wednesday. During this, the two leaders discussed cooperation in areas such as trade, energy and fisheries and ways to boost bilateral ties. PM Modi arrived in Copenhagen from Berlin on Tuesday on the second leg of his three European-nation tour. He met Katrin Jakobsdottir on the sidelines of the 2nd India Nordic Summit.
The Prime Minister's Office tweeted that Prime Minister Modi held talks with Iceland's Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir. They discussed promoting cooperation and relations in other areas including trade, energy, fisheries. The two Prime Ministers warmly recalled their first meeting on the sidelines of the 1st India Nordic Summit in Stockholm in April 2018. He said that this year both the countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
PM Modi's visit to Europe has come at a time when the war is being fought between Russia and Ukraine. This event has united much of Europe against Russia. The Ministry of External Affairs said Prime Minister Modi appreciated Jacobsditor's individual efforts to promote gender equality and briefed him on India's progress on the issue. The two leaders also discussed expediting India European Free Trade Association (EFTA) trade talks.
