In the program organized by TERI, DDC Vice-Chairman Jasmin Shah addressed on the topic 'Economically Effective Alternatives to Reduce Pollution in Delhi'. He said that the Kejriwal government showed political will to check pollution. But other states of North India did not do so. In a report released today by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), regional level air quality planning and implementation is essential to reduce Delhi's PM 2.5 levels during winter.
In the inaugural address of the program, Jasmin Shah, Vice-Chairman, Delhi Dialogue and Development Commission, while highlighting the two major challenges in the fight against pollution, said that along with the lack of good data about air pollution, the data that exists is also lack of communication. He said that air pollution in Delhi is a regional airshed problem and not Delhi's problem. TERI's 2018 report, based on 2016 data, highlighted how much of Delhi's air pollution is at local levels.
