Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a three-day Europe tour. Modi has started his tour from Germany. PM Modi, who arrived in Germany on Monday, took part in many programs. Meanwhile, Germany has made a big announcement. Germany said that it will give 10 billion euros by 2030 to help India meet its climate change goals. The Ministry of External Affairs said that this agreement has been signed between the two countries. This assistance will be given under the Joint Declaration on Green and Sustainable Development Partnership (JDI).
Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said that JDI provides a long-term strategic perspective to the development cooperation agenda between India and Germany. "I think this declaration of intent provides a long-term strategic perspective to our overall development cooperation agenda," he said. Germany has agreed to make a commitment of 10 billion euros in new and additional developmental assistance by 2030.
The joint statement was issued after talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Schulz. Today, Germany is launching the Indo-German Partnership for Green and Sustainable Development, the statement said.
After Germany, PM Modi will visit Denmark. PM will reach Copenhagen, Denmark today. He will hold delegation level talks and exchange MoUs with the Danish Prime Minister Mette Fredriksson. Modi will later attend the Business Roundtable and meet Queen Margrethe II.
