Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the Group-7 meeting to be held in Germany in June 2022. The Indian PM has not yet been officially invited from Germany, but there have been initial talks between the two countries regarding PM Modi's visit to this meeting.
The meeting assumes significance after Russia's attack on Ukraine, in which apart from Germany, the heads of states of Britain, America, France, Japan, Canada and Italy will participate. From Germany, some other countries of Africa and Asia are also being invited to this meeting.
Sources have spread rumors that Germany may refrain from inviting the Indian PM in view of India's stand on the Ukraine-Russia war. Germany has not invited any country officially yet. Since the year 2019, India has been invited to every meeting of the G-7. PM Modi was also invited for the meeting held in the US in the year 2020 and in the UK in the year 2021.
Due to the Corona epidemic, Modi participated in both these meetings in a virtual way. Sources have said that most of the voices on India's policies regarding Ukraine-Russia have come from the US, yet the heads of both the countries have met. On the other hand, there is a constant discussion between the officials of Germany and India about when the bilateral meeting of Modi and the new German Chancellor Olaf Solz will be held. There will also be inter-ministerial talks between the two countries when Modi visits Germany to attend the G-7 meeting in June 2022.
