PM Modi in Mumbai: Narendra Modi addresses Public from Mumbai's Raj Bhavan
The 'Kranti Gatha Sangrahalaya', now built in the same bunker during the Amrit Mahotsav year of independence, will now remind the tales of our revolutionary heroes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that we are very indifferent to our historical heritage. We need to understand the pages of our history by searching and searching. The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating 'Kranti Gatha Sangrahalaya' and 'Jal Bhushan' building at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Tuesday. A huge bunker built by the British under the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai, surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides, was unearthed in 2016. This bunker itself has now been converted into the Kranti Gatha Museum.
The Prime Minister said that activities have been going on in the Raj Bhavan for seven decades, and we did not even know that there was a bunker under it. This shows our indifference to our heritage. We need to search through the pages of our history and understand them. Modi said these bunkers were once used by the British to store weapons.
Referring to the didactic poem Abhang composed by Sant Tukaram, Modi said that that which is not broken, remains eternal, that is abhang. Sometimes Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj got inspiration from the abhangs composed from time to time by the Sant Samaj of Maharashtra, and sometimes Veer Savarkar kept singing his handcuffs in the Cellular Jail of Andaman. The Prime Minister also announced the construction of a 350-km highway on the route of the palanquin to be taken out by the Varkari sect every year in the month of Ashadh.
