Virushka, as the two are popularly known as, welcomed their first child on January 11 when Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma gave birth to a healthy baby in a Mumbai hospital.
Thanking his fans and followers for showing all the love for many years, the couple said, "We are happy to celebrate this momentous occasion with you."
"As parents, we have a simple request to make to you. We want to protect the privacy of our child and we need your help and support," the couple's statement read.
Virushka also said that while they will always ensure that media gets all the content it needs featuring the two, "We would request you to kindly not take or carry any content that has our child. We know that you will understand where we are coming from and we thank you for the same."
Reports also say that the couple has enhanced the security in the hospital and many of their relatives are not even allowed to enter.
Virat Kohli's brother Vikas Kohli had recently tweeted a picture of a baby's feet and congratulated the couple.
It went viral and widely reported as the first look of the baby girl. However, Vikas soon clarified it and said that he used a random picture to wish them.
