Even Babasaheb Ambedkar would not be able to abolish it now, according to Prime Minister Modi.
PM Modi Criticizes Opposition's Constitution Remark: While addressing a poll rally in Rajasthan on Friday, Narendra Modi attacked the opposition for claiming the BJP would "change the Constitution" if elected.
Even Babasaheb Ambedkar would not be able to abolish it now, according to Prime Minister Modi.
PM Modi said during an election rally in Rajasthan's Barmer that even Babasaheb Ambedkar himself cannot abolish the Constitution.
PM Modi said "If the Constitution was so important, why wasn't it in force until Article 370 was scrapped (in 2019)? The Opposition resisted it because it was soft on separatists." He said that Ambedkar's soul must be blessing Modi now that Article 370 has been repealed.
By seeking to impose an emergency in the country, PM Modi further criticized the INDIA bloc for attempting to "destroy the Constitution."
“The Congress, which made Baba Saheb lose elections while he was alive, did not allow him to receive the Bharat Ratna, and attempted to end the Constitution by imposing an emergency in the country is today resorting to lies in the name of the Constitution just to abuse Modi,” the Prime Minister said.
In response to BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde's assertion that the party needs a two-thirds majority to amend the Constitution, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged that Narendra Modi and the BJP seek to destroy Babasaheb's Constitution.
Hegde's remarks had been dubbed "personal opinion" by the BJP, which contacted him for clarification.
Without being specific, PM Modi said the Congress party wrote about nuclear disarmament in its manifesto for the upcoming elections.
In addition to the 'Panchtirthas' associated with Ambedkar, PM Modi said his government was responsible for founding Constitution Day, which the Congress opposed.
“Should a country like India, whose neighbours on both sides have nuclear weapons, think about eliminating nuclear weapons? I want to ask the Congress, on whose instructions your INDI alliance is working,” he said.
He once again accused the BJP of trying to alter the Constitution of India if it were elected in power at a poll rally in Tamil Nadu earlier in the day. The saffron party, according to Gandhi, openly declared that they would "change the Constitution" if they retained power.
Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi claimed that the rest of the world now views India's democracy as no longer democratic.
