The United States recently witnessed an exponential rise in the number of Covid Cases driven by the Omicron variant. The numbers peeked so far as the country witnessed a million cases on a daily basis. The hospitalization numbers have also seen an immense rise in the country in the past few days.
However, several statistics have also stated that the pace at which the numbers incremented, the numbers will subside in a similar manner. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has maintained an official tracker which peaked to 795,000 cases on January 13. But now, the CDC has mentioned that the cases have started receding in a similar manner in the way it rose. The decline in the numbers were most pronounced in states that were hit first by the wave, particularly in the northeast, including New York, New Jersey, and Maryland.
Although the Omicron variant is milder in most people compared to the previously dominant Delta strain, hospitalizations remain at a high of just under 160,000 people. The figure now appears to be flat and the reduction can be forecasted pretty soon.
