New Usmanpur police in North East Delhi arrested three robbers, which include an auto driver and a female member, in the sensational signature bridge robbery case and recovered robbed mobile phone, bag and the auto used in the commission of the crime.

“In the wee hours of February 19, 2022, a PCR call regarding a robbery at Signature Bridge was received at New Usmanpur police station. Immediately, a police team reached the spot where complainant Mohd. Shameer informed that he works in Dubai and after attending a wedding in Agra he reached ISBT Kashmere Gate, Delhi. At around 02:30 AM while he was waiting for an auto at ISBT Kashmiri Gate, one auto, already occupied by a couple, approached him,” Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP, North East District, New Delhi, said.
He also boarded the same auto for Bhajanpura. On reaching Signature Bridge, the auto driver and the couple thrashed and robbed him of his mobile phone, and a Bag containing 1000 Dirhams, Rs. 2500 cash, 3 ATM Cards, Voter Card and ID Card of his company in Dubai.
He added, “Accordingly, on his complaint, a case was registered and an investigation was taken up. A team comprising of SI Dev, HC Vinay, Const. Amit, Const. Bhupinder and Const. Rajiv under the supervision of SHO New Usmanpur was assigned the task to solve the case and nab the culprits at the earliest.”
Technical surveillance as well local human sources were deployed. The police team scanned and analyzed the CCTV footage of more than 50 CCTV cameras installed on the route from Kashmere Gate to Signature Bridge and on all possible escape routes of the robbers. The details of the GPS system fitted in the Autos, plying in the area at that time were also obtained.
After diligent efforts, the police team received a photo of the Auto but its registration plate was not legible. Various dossiers of the criminals with the same modus operandi were shown to the complainant but in vain.
After relentless and persistent efforts, on the basis of minute clues derived through technical inputs were developed. On February 24, 2022, with the help of local sources, a raid was conducted and the driver of Auto namely Deepak was apprehended from Gali-Yudhister.
On cursory search, the robbed mobile phone of the complainant was recovered from his possession. On his instance, the other associate namely Mahesh Kumar Mishra was also apprehended from the nearby area. On further interrogation, they disclosed about their third accomplice a lady.
On their instance on February 25, she was also apprehended from the area of Chajjupur. The robbed black colour bag of the complainant was recovered from her possession. They confessed to their crime and disclosed their involvement in other cases of the same modus operandi. Sincere efforts to recover the robbed items are on. Further investigation into the case is in progress.
