NEET PG Counseling: NEET PG counseling may start from September 19

The Union Health Ministry on Monday deferred the NEET-PG counseling to allow the National Medical Commission (NMC) to complete the process of adding new seats. Official sources said on Wednesday that the NEET-PG counseling for admission to postgraduate medical courses, which was scheduled to begin from September 01, is now likely to begin from September 19. Sources said the ministry may upload the counseling schedule in a day or two.

The ministry had said in the notice that NEET PG 2022 counseling was scheduled to begin from September 01. However, the National Medical Commission (NMC) is in the process of issuing the Letter of Permission (LOP) for the current academic year and will conclude by September 15. Therefore, in order to include more seats in the counseling for the benefit of the candidates, it has been decided by the competent authority to re-schedule the NEET PG Counselling, 2022 which was scheduled to commence from 01st September

Usually, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (PG), i.e. NEET PG, is conducted in January and counseling begins in March. This year's exam was held on May 21 and the result was declared on June 1 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the delay in the admission process last year, a senior official said. PG counseling is likely to be held for around 60,000 seats this year.
