Congress candidate from Amritsar East, Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday suddenly left the election campaign and left to visit Mata Vaishno Devi in Jammu.

Political experts are seeing this as the result of a tussle over the chair between veteran Punjab Congress leaders Sunil Jakhar, CM Charanjit Singh Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu. Sidhu's visit to Vaishno Devi has been confirmed by the leaders close to him.
Earlier in the morning, former Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar created a political uproar by saying that after the resignation of former CM Captain Amarinder Singh, he had the support of 42 MLAs but Charanjit Singh Channi with the support of 2 MLAs became the CM. 16 MLAs gave their support to Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and only 6 MLAs to Navjot Singh Sidhu.
