The central government took an important decision on Saturday in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case. Under this, the mastermind of the attack and Hafiz Talha Saeed, the son of Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed, was declared a terrorist.
In a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, it has been said that even 46-year-old Hafiz Talha Saeed was involved in the planning, funding and recruitment for the attacks carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba in India. Along with this, it also keeps visiting various LeT centers present in Pakistan.
The central government is of the view that Hafiz Talha Saeed is involved in terrorism and he should be declared a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities Prevention (UAPA) Act 1967. According to this, Talha is the head of the cleric wing of LeT and a major terrorist of Lashkar. The ministry has said that it has been involved in spreading jihad against the interests of India in Western countries and Afghanistan.
Hafiz Saeed was the brain behind the 26 November 2008 Mumbai terror attack in which 166 people died. A few years ago, he was declared a terrorist under the same law. He is currently serving a sentence of imprisonment in Pakistan for carrying out terrorist activities. India is repeatedly asking for his custody from Pakistan but Pakistan is denying it.
