MP: 150 College Staff Held ‘Hostage’ Over Holi Event Rejection in Indore; 4 Students Expelled
Principal Anamika Jain said that the reported investigation from district administration found four students guilty of gross indiscipline.
MP: Suspension was imposed on four student "leaders" from the Government Holkar Science College in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh, who allegedly held hostage more than 150 staff members after being denied permission for a Holi programme.

The students had planned to conduct the "Holkar Ka Holi Fest" on March 7, which was to feature a DJ and a "rain dance," as per news agency PTI. It was an event co-sponsored by the civil services examination and charged ₹150 for entry.
Even after the permission from the college administration was denied, the students went ahead and put up posters about the event all across the campus, as stated by PTI.
“The students had put up posters on February 23, announcing a Holi event at the college on March 7 without the permission of the principal. These posters were removed on the instructions of the college head,” an official said citing an administration's investigative report.

The students staged protests against the decision of the administration. The next day, i.e. February 24, the door of Yashwant Hall of the college was locked from inside, and electricity was cut off to the hall, reported.
This meant that the by then about 150 people present were female professors also there and harassed and heckled for about thirty minutes keeping them locked inside.
Principal Anamika Jain informed that from the investigation conducted by the district administration, four students were found guilty of gross indiscipline. The report held this incident as gross indiscipline and has suggested that strict action be taken against the four student leaders. Hence all four were expelled and given instructions to collect their transfer certificates, she said.
The college was established in 1891 by Holkar rulers of Indore. The district administration has now launched an investigation into the matter.
