KN Tripathi's nomination for the post of Congress President canceled, there will be a contest between Kharge and Tharoor
Addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters, Congress's Central Election Authority chief Madhusudan Mistry said a total of 20 forms were received during the nomination process and four of them have been rejected.
There will be only two candidates in the election for the post of Congress President. Now this match will be between Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor. Former Jharkhand minister KN Tripathi's nomination for the post of Congress President has been cancelled. The three leaders had filed their nomination papers on Friday. The last date for filing nomination papers was September 30.

Kharge had filled 14 forms, while Tharoor had filled five and Tripathi had filled one form. Mistry said Tripathi's form has been rejected as the signatures of one of his proposers did not match and that of another proposer had duplication.
Madhusudan Mistry said that two Congress candidates will stand in the election for the post of President. Nominations can be withdrawn till October 8. Today only two candidates are face to face, the rest of the picture will be clear after October 8. If no one withdraws his name, the process of election will begin. At the same time, after filing his nomination, Mallikarjun Kharge resigned from the post of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha.
