Karol Bagh MLA Vishesh Ravi met the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi on January 27 with a memorandum cum letter and demanded that the North MCD should be stopped from selling the land belonging to Jhandewalan Chest Clinic to a private institution for free.
The sale of Jhandewalan Chest Clinic to a private institution for free is completely against the DMC Act. The North MCD has given 20 years of license for this land without charging any fee from the private organization. The land area of Jhandewalan Chest Clinic allotted to a private institution is 500 yards.
Vishesh Ravi noted that the poor will not get free treatment, but they will have to pay fees for the treatment. People were getting huge benefits from Jhandewalan Chest Clinic. It is to be noted that already there are very few government hospitals in Karol Bagh.
Previously, North MCD had destroyed 2 MCD Primary Schools in Bank Street Ajmal Khan Road and grabbed 3000 Sqm of 1 MCD school in Pusa Lane Karol Bagh Zone violating Delhi Land use change rules and RTE act to build a car parking space. This is in line with a series of public spaces like schools, hospitals, and children's parks North MCD is selling for very cheap rates to private players who use it for commercial purposes.
“I met and requested the LG to stop North MCD from selling the land belonging to Jhandewalan Chest Clinic to a private institution for free and destroying 3 MCD primary schools as it violates DMC and RTE acts”, said MLA Vishesh Ravi.
