Officials said this is the second round of searches conducted by the CBI in connection with the recruitment scam. After registering the case, the CBI had said on August 5, "On the request of the administration, a case has been registered against 33 accused on charges of irregularities in the written examination for the posts of SI in Jammu and Kashmir Police on 27 March 2022." The examination was conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB).
The CBI further said, "It was alleged that the accused hatched a conspiracy in connivance with JKSSB, Bengaluru based private company, beneficiary candidates and others and committed huge irregularities during the written examination." It is also alleged that Jammu, Rajouri and Samba districts had an unusually high percentage of selected candidates. The probe agency had said that the JKSSB had allegedly violated norms in outsourcing the question paper to a Bengaluru-based private company.
