The Jammu-Srinagar national road was closed for traffic on Saturday thanks to a colossal landslide triggered by significant rains in Ramban district that left over five hundred vehicles stranded, officers said.
The 270-km highway, the sole unrestricted road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country, was blocked by a landslide at Magarkot belt within the Ramsoo area, they said. As a result, over five hundred serious automobiles (HMVs) and lightweight motor vehicles (LMVs) are stranded at totally different points of the highway, the officers added.
They said men and machinery are deployed to clear the area. thanks to an enormous landslide at Magerkote, all passengers in LMVs are requested to maneuver back towards Banihal or Ramban from either side, the officers said.
