Israel Notifies US of Limited Ground Operation: The US has been told by Israel that it is focusing its limited ground actions on Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon close to the border with Israel, the State Department said on Monday.
"They told us that they are currently conducting limited operations targeting Hezbollah infrastructure near the border," Matthew Miller, a spokesman for the Department of State, told reporters.
When asked to confirm that they were only doing limited work on the ground, he said, "That is what we understand."
Monday, there were more signs that Israel was about to send ground troops into Lebanon. This came two weeks after Israel killed Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group.

Following two weeks of heavy bombings and the killing of several Hezbollah leaders, Israel has made it clearer that a land invasion is on the way.
Israel's attacks on terrorist targets in Lebanon are part of a bigger war that includes the occupied West Bank and Gaza, as well as groups in Yemen and Iraq that are backed by Iran.
People are worried that the US and Iran will get involved in the war because of the worsening of things.
Miller said that the US still wants Israel and Hezbollah to stop fighting, but he also said that military pressure can sometimes make negotiation possible.
He warned that military pressure can also cause mistakes and effects that were not meant to happen.
