Irrecoverable warrant issued against Varavara Rao in the 2005 Maoist attack case.

On Saturday, October 23, his lawyer said, a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against poet and activist Telugu Varavara Rao from an additional court in Madhugiri in the Tumkuru district of Karnataka, linked to a 2005 Maoist attack case.

Rao, 82, was released on medical bail. He is accused in the Bhima Koregaon case. His lawyer said he would transfer the Bombay High Court on Monday, October 25, challenging the warrant.

The 2005 case pertains to an attack on cops by Maoists in Tumakuru on ten February 2005 during which Rao and another writer and activist named Gaddar were named as accused, Rao' professional person S Balan told PTI.

Six police personnel and a civilian were killed within the attack that occurred at Venkatammanahalli in Pavagada taluk in Karnataka.
