Suresh Raina is one of the finest batsmen in the Indian cricket team. Be it the Indian cricket test team, one day international and IPL, he has risen to the occasion in all formats of cricket.
However, this IPL season he remained unsold and that has surprised many of his fans. He has played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for 12 years and proved his worth in every season.
In his first spell, he represented CSK from 2008 to 2015 and then he once again came back to play for them from 2018 to 2021. He had scored a total of 5.528 runs which has made him the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL history.
In his IPL career, his stint with CSK has been extremely successful as he had made 4,687 runs for CSK only. Raina shared a very excellent on and off the field rapport with Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Agreeing that Raina was one of the most consistent players of the team, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanath spoke to YouTube and explained why the franchise didn't bid for Raina in this IPL season.
Viswanath said, "Raina has been one of the most consistent performers for CSK for the last 12 years. Of course, it was very difficult for us, not to have Raina but at the same time, you should also understand that the team composition depends on the form and kind of team which any team would like to have.”
He added, "So that's one of the reasons why we thought he may not fit into this team.”
