India Vs England 4th Test: Jasprit Bumrah will not play due to personal reasons
Jasprit Bumrah had requested BCCI to release him for the fourth test match between India and England to be played in Ahmedabad.
Bumrah has played two matches and bagged four wickets from his total 48 overs bowled.
The governing body for cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has requested to be released from the team for personal reasons.
In a press statement released on February 27, Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary, BCCI said, “Jasprit Bumrah made a request to BCCI to be released from India’s squad ahead of the fourth Test owing to personal reasons.”
He added, “Accordingly, the fast bowler has been released and he will not be available for selection for the fourth Test.”
The BCCI has further informed that there will be no addition to India’s squad for the final Test.
India has played three test matches against England in the four-match test series. The fourth one will start from March 4 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was also the venue for the third test which India won by ten wickets.
Out of three, Bumrah has played only two as the BCCI rested him in the second test match in Chennai and Mohammed Siraj had replaced him.
Experts feel that though the pitch is providing a lot of support to the spinners, his absence will hurt India’s interest.
“It is a blow to India as he is the backbone of India’s pace bowling attack. Though the pitch is supporting spinners a lot yet he is one of the most impressive opening bowlers for the team and extremely important for an early breakthrough,” one of the former cricketers said while responding to the recent development.
In the series, Bumrah has played two matches and bagged four wickets from his total 48 overs bowled.
