India Blocks China’s Global Times X Account Amidst Rising India-Pakistan Tensions
India has blocked the official X (formerly Twitter) accounts of Chinese and Turkish state-run media outlets — Xinhua News Agency, Global Times, and TRT World — for allegedly spreading pro-Pakistan narratives
India-Pakistan Tensions: India has blocked the official X (formerly Twitter) accounts of Chinese and Turkish state-run media outlets — Xinhua News Agency, Global Times, and TRT World — for allegedly spreading pro-Pakistan narratives and unverified claims. ABP Live could verify that both the aforementioned accounts were suspended on X.
On May 7, the Indian Embassy in China strongly cautioned the media outlet to verify facts before posting on social media.
“Dear Global Times News, we would recommend you verify your facts and cross-examine your sources before pushing out this kind of disinformation,” the Embassy said in a post on X.

The decision, announced on Wednesday, comes at a time when diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan remain tense. Xinhua News Agency and the other suspended accounts, known to be mouthpieces of the Chinese and Turkish governments, were reportedly amplifying content that Indian authorities deemed misleading and sympathetic to Pakistan’s stance on sensitive geopolitical issues.

Over the past few years, several Chinese apps have faced restrictions over data security and propaganda concerns. Turkey, on the other hand, has reportedly supported Pakistan by supplying swarm drones to breach the Indian airspace.
India issued a statement condemning China's renewed attempts to assert territorial claims over Arunachal Pradesh.

In a strongly worded statement, the external affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh remains an integral and inalienable part of India, dismissing Beijing’s actions as “vain and preposterous.”This marks the second Chinese media outlet to be restricted in India on X within a short span, highlighting New Delhi’s tightening digital policy against foreign state-linked disinformation efforts.
Post Operation Sindoor a military conflict erupted between India and Pakistan, with Pakistan deploying drones across border cities in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, including Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, and Chandigarh. These incursions were met with countermeasures by Indian forces. But after four days of intense exchanges, India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire agreement on Saturday.
