IIT-Bombay students protest against fee hike

The students of IIT Bombay, the country's renowned engineering institute, staged a dharna yesterday over the fee hike. Students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Bombay) yesterday protested against the fee hike by the college administration. More than 500 students of the college participated in it. 

Students of IIT Bombay claimed that there has been a 45 percent increase in fees. Most of the fee components have been increased from 25% to 50%, while the Gymkhana fee alone has been increased by 340%. The students said that no student representative was informed about the decision to hike fees. The institute refused to provide any documents related to fee expenditure and fee committee meetings to the student representative, in which the decision on fee hike was taken.
