Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, who is well known for giving controversial statements against Hindu God, Lord Rama has once again caused a stir by raising questions about the existence of Lord Ram. In a program of Ambedkar Jayanti in Jamui on Thursday, he said that Lord Rama is no God, he was the mere character of Tulsidas’s and Valmiki’s Ramayana. Many good things have been written in Ramayana, so we believe it, but I don’t believe in Ram as an almighty.
Jita Ram Manjhi did not stop here. He further added that “No one becomes big by worshiping. Scheduled caste people should stop worshiping, and stay away from the Brahmins who eat meat, drink alcohol, and spread lies. They should not be worshiped. Ram had eaten the ripe berry of Shabri, tell me who eats it today, who picks someone else’s food? I dare them to show me that. The upper caste and upper caste people are not the natives of India, they are outsiders.
The case of Hindustan Awam Morcha (Hum) supremo Manjhi's statements on Lord Ram, Hindu religion, and Brahmins is not new. He has said these things many times before. In December last year itself, there was a big uproar after one such statement of his. Later he organized a Brahmin feast in Patna. The condition was that only Brahmins would eat those who had never committed any 'sin'. These statements of Manjhi were not taken lightly in the NDA alliance. The constituent parties, including the BJP, had given him advice, but only in the form of gestures.
