Hijab Row: Al Qaeda Will Never Understand that the motive is to ensure Equality in Education, but Indian Muslims Will, says Himanta Biswas Sharma
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Wednesday reinforced that Indian Muslims will not respond to the call by Al Qaeda chief Ayman Al Zawahiri.
After the Karnataka High Court upheld the ban on Hijab, Al-Qaeda has released a video in which they praised "Muskan Khan", the Muslim Girl who said "Allah-hu-Akbar" while protesting in favor of wearing Hijab in Schools.
On that, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Wednesday reinforced that Indian Muslims will not respond to the call by Al Qaeda chief Ayman Al Zawahiri. He also said that they won’t disrespect the decision of the court. Recently, in the hijab row, the Karnataka High Court ruled that Hijab won’t be allowed inside the school premises iterating that they aren’t a part of Islam as such.
Sharma further added that “Muslims of the country will abide by the judgment and continue to respect the basic tenets of the country's education system. India is a democracy. Karnataka High Court has given a clear verdict that it is not expected of students to wear anything like a hijab to school or college. If you wear a hijab, I will wear something and then schools and colleges will become a place of display of religious clothes or behavior. How can schools and colleges continue then?"
While answering the questions of the reporters he said that this decision has been taken to ensure the equality of all students that uniforms are used in educational institutions but Al Qaeda will not understand it.
