Gorakhpur AIIMS: It will be easy to take serious patients to Delhi, Lucknow via Air ambulance
Patients from outside will also be able to come here by air ambulance for treatment at AIIMS. After getting permission from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the construction of the helipad in the AIIMS campus has started.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has taken the initiative to give a great facility to the patients. Serious patients referred from here will now be able to reach other medical institutions in less time. Their treatment can start in time.
There is an air ambulance facility at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow. The patients going there will get great relief. Initially patients will use private helicopters. In future, AIIMS will have its own helicopters which will ferry patients to other medical institutions at a fixed fee. AIIMS Rishikesh has its own air ambulance. Gradually, preparations are being made to arrange it in all AIIMS.
Whenever serious patients are referred, then they have to go to Lucknow by car. It takes around 12 hours to reach Delhi by train. He can also go by plane or book an air ambulance and call him at the airport. But it takes more time and cost. When air ambulance is available in AIIMS, he will easily reach Lucknow in 35-40 minutes and Delhi in about two and a half hours. This will allow them to start treatment sooner.
