Former Punjab cabinet minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot arrested along with 2 companions
On behalf of the Vigilance Bureau, former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and his associates will be produced in the court of Mohali. Dharamsot was the Forest Minister when Captain Amarinder Singh was the CM.
Sadhu Dharamsot Arrested: The Vigilance Bureau has arrested former Punjab Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and many of his other associates, including a journalist. Vigilance picked up Sadhu Singh Dharamsot from his house in Amloh at 3 am on Tuesday morning. Dharamsot is accused of taking bribe in exchange for felling trees.
It is worth mentioning that today itself Rahul Gandhi is coming to Punjab. He will meet the family of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala after the murder. It is being told that the Vigilance Bureau had caught some forest officers of Mohali on charges of bribery. He told during interrogation that Dharamsot used to take a bribe of Rs 500 for cutting a tree. Apart from this, bribes were also taken for planting new trees. The part of which also went directly to the then minister Dharamsot.
Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has also been involved in the Post Matric Scholarship scam. During his tenure as Social Security Minister, allegations were made that scholarship money was wrongly given to private colleges and universities. There was a lot of uproar about this. Despite this, the then Captain Government had given a clean chit to Dharamsot.
After the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had talked about sending Dharamset behind bars. Before the elections, the opposition parties including the Aam Aadmi Party had raised this issue vigorously. Then along with Shiromani Akali Dal, the Aam Aadmi Party also had a movement.
