Fire breaks out at Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai

Accidents are happening in Tamil Nadu since Wednesday morning. Earlier, 11 people died due to electrocution during the Rath Yatra being taken out in Thanjavur and now a fire broke out in the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in the capital Chennai. However, there were no loss of life or property in this incident. Soon after getting the information, fireman reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire. It was told by the hospital that the patients were evacuated from the affected wards and shifted to safer wards.
J Radhakrishnan, Chief Health Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu, said, “All the patients were evacuated safely. There was a fire in one of the old building, three new blocks are safe. So far no damage has been reported in this accident.
According to hospital officials, 33 patients were safely evacuated from the affected wards. Tamil Nadu Health Minister Mr. Subramanian reached the hospital. He further said, 'The patients have been evacuated safely. No one was injured in the fire incident. This could be due to further electricity leakage.
State Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan said that fireman were sent to control the situation. Also, the oxygen cylinders present in the hospital were removed so that the fire did not spread further.
