Filmmaker Sunil Darshan has filed an FIR against Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Google and some of its officials for copyright infringement of his film 'Ek Hasina Thi Ek Deewana Tha' on YouTube. In which he has alleged that his exclusive content is being used by many users on YouTube, due to which he has suffered huge loss.
In his FIR, the filmmaker has also included the names of Google CEO Sundar Pichai and several other employees of the company. An FIR has been registered at Andheri East MIDC Police Station under Sections 51, 63 and 69 of the Copyright Act.
Sunil Darshan told ETimes, "My film, which I have not uploaded anywhere and have not sold to anyone in the world. It has got millions of views on YouTube. I request Google to remove this film from the platform. I kept on wandering from door to door. I was very disappointed and had no option left, so I had to go to court.
Luckily the court ordered in my favor and directed the police to register an FIR. There have been over a billion copyright infringements and I have a record of each and every one of them. It is about people who claim that they follow the law and now they have no system. Those earning money from my videos are getting a lot. I don't want to challenge technology. But, I am challenging the misuse of technology."
