Farrukhabad custodial death: Police accused of forcible funeral, case registered

The police of Merapur police station in Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh is accused of raiding the house of a youth named Gautam on the night of Friday 24 June and around 1:30 pm on Saturday and caught him. Shortly after this, Gautam's body is found 100 meters away from his house. Gautam's mother Long Shree and brother Udal had accused the police of police station Merapur of thrashing them to death. On Saturday, June 25, the post-mortem of the dead body of the deceased Gautam was done.
According to the relatives, as soon as the body reached home after the post-mortem, the last rites were forcibly done by the police in the night.

In the dark, the young man was beaten a lot, due to which he lost his life. After this, when the villagers reached the spot after hearing the shout, the policemen fled.
According to the Supreme Court, there should have been orders for a magisterial inquiry into the murder in police custody. The post-mortem report should have been given to the family where post-mortem is done by more than one doctor, post-mortem videography is mandatory.
