Eight-month-old baby dies due to measles in Mumbai, 12 people have died so far

An 8-month-old partially immunized child from Bhiwandi Thane was suspected of having measles. He died during treatment in a government hospital in Mumbai. The child got fever and rash came out all over the body. He was admitted to BMC hospital due to difficulty in breathing. Despite several measures, the child could not be saved. He was declared dead last night at 9:15 pm. The cause of death will be known after the post-mortem.
Out of 24 wards of Mumbai city, outbreak of measles has been reported in about 21 places in 10. At present, the treatment of this disease is going on in eight hospitals in Mumbai. As a precaution, 120 beds of Andheri's Seven Hills Hospital have been reserved for measles patients, including 100 oxygen beds, 10 ventilators and 10 ICU beds. For the last two years, this hospital was being operated as a COVID-19 hospital.
