Edible oil prices to cool down, the government writes a letter to 8 states
The letter has been written to 8 major oil-producing states which are Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh which are the major oil-producing states.
The center has written to different state governments wanting action for making sure that the prices of Edible Oils are brought down post import duty reduction for immediate relief of consumers. Slashing import duty will bring reduction to consumers during festive season especially.
The letter has been written to 8 oil-producing states which are, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh which are the major oil-producing states. The department of food and public distribution has written to all oil-producing states to take immediate action for ensuring the prices of oils are brought down to commensurate levels in line with the import duty reductions. The direction states that the government has to make sure that the full benefit of duty reduction made by the center is passed on to consumers to provide them with the relief from prevailing high prices of Edible Oils, especially during the ensuring festival season.
