ED summons former Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey, retired 3 days ago
Sanjay Pandey retired on 30 June. Earlier, Sanjay Pandey was questioned by the CBI in March. CBI had answered questions from Sanjay Pandey for almost 6 hours.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey on July 5. According to reports, the investigating agency has sent summons to him in the money laundering case. Sanjay Pandey has been directed to appear before the agency on July 5. According to reports, Sanjay Pandey was called to the National Stock Exchange for questioning in connection with the location scam. Sanjay Pandey retired on 30 June. Earlier, Sanjay Pandey was questioned by the CBI in March. CBI had answered questions from Sanjay Pandey for almost 6 hours. This inquiry from the former police commissioner was done in the recovery case of Rs 100 crore related to Anil Deshmukh.
Former police commissioner Paramvir Singh had made many allegations in this case. CBI has registered a case against Anil Deshmukh under sections of IPC and section of Prevention of Corruption Act related to alleged criminal conspiracy in the recovery case of 100 crores. Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh had alleged that Deshmukh had allegedly asked sacked Mumbai Police officer Sachin Waje to extort over 100 crores in the Antilia case.
In March 2022, the Maharashtra government appointed Sanjay Pandey, the former acting Director General of Police of Maharashtra, as the new Police Commissioner of Mumbai. He replaced Hemant Nagrale, who was made the police chief of Mumbai after the removal of Parambir Singh in 2021. Nagrale was transferred to the Maharashtra State Security Corporation as the Managing Director. It is worth noting that the post of Police Commissioner in Mumbai has been in the news a lot in the last few years. After the extortion case of Rs 100 crore and the case of sacked Police Inspector Sachin Waje of Mumbai Police, the Commissioner of Police has to face many challenges.
