People trapped in 18 trolleys of a 30-cabin ropeway on Trikut Parvat in Deoghar, Jharkhand were rescued safely. During this three people had died.
In view of the Deoghar ropeway accident, the central government on Tuesday asked all the states and union territories to conduct a safety audit of each ropeway project. Along with this, it has also asked to implement standard operating procedures to deal with such emergencies. Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, in a letter to all states and union territories, also said that every ropeway project should have a maintenance manual and schedule so that the security arrangements are as per standard practices.
